New Year, New Start: Day 5

clip_image002Let’s spice things up! Oops…not with those old things. Something in your spice cabinet has definitely lost its savor. I’ll save the “fresh herbs” post for later, but for now – find an ancient bottle or tin and pitch it. Your palate will praise you.

Ha, I did this on New Year's Eve. I was ahead of the game and didn't even know it. LOL

Funny story - Mother in law has spices in her cabinets that are so old that they have the price STAMPED on them. Prices haven't been stamped in decades so it's funny to see them hiding in the back of her cupboard. She probably doesn't even realize they are back there.

Marla, my MIL always said "We've been married so long we're on our 2nd bottle of Tabasco sauce." Obviously they weren't from Louisiana .

I'm loving these challenges! So far, I've taken all 5 and my house (and mental space) is already the better for it! Thanks! = )

Hi Renee, Great challenges! As soon as I get my Christmas stuff down and packed up, I may just try some of these! LOL! I'm not kidding, I'm so far behind! These are all great tips!

It is so nice to "meet you!" I was visiting you the other night, probably as you were visiting me! :) I apologize for not leaving a comment before now! You have a great blog, and I'll be sure to be back! Hope you'll drop back in my way soon! ~Rhonda :)

Oh, and I heard a well-known chef say one time, that great food is all about the spices...the fresher (or newer) the better! I need to purge some of mind! Thanks for the reminder! :)

Hi Renee, Suzanne from Southern Inspiration was telling us about your blog. I thought I would come over and check it out for myself. What a great idea. That's just what I need, little baby steps to help me organize my life!

You've got a new follower. On twitter too!

I picked up a new spices at the grocery store for my husband. Black pepper in a grinder and sea salt in a grinder. We needed more, but when I looked at the options, I thought "Why not?"

Indeed. Why not?

Of course, that doesn't mean I am throwing something out, but it does mean I am spicing things up!

I have been away from home this week, but when I get home I'll catch up. I'm already itching to get at my spice cabinet. Thanks again for this challange.
